HOW TO USE THIS BOOK AS A STUDY GUIDE / FOREWARD(S) AND PREFACE(S)
I TEACH THEM CORRECT PRINCIPLES -- An Introductory Discussion / PREPARATION FOR STEP ONE
STEP 1: O HOW GREAT IS THE NOTHINGNESS OF THE CHILDREN OF MEN (Helaman 12:7)
I of myself am powerless—nothing without God.
STEP 2: I GLORY IN MY JESUS (2 Nephi 33:6)
All power of redemption and atonement is vested in the Lord Jesus Christ,
and this power can only be effective in my life as I am willing to have a
personal relationship with Him.
STEP 3: I KNOW IN WHOM I HAVE TRUSTED (2 Nephi 4:19)
Trusting God in all things is the highest form of worship I can extend to Him.
STEP 4: WO UNTO THE UNCIRCUMCISED OF HEART (2 Nephi 9:33)
My trials and mistakes are potentially great learning opportunities, not
terrible things I should try to ignore or forget.
STEP 5: I OF MYSELF AM [NOT] MORE THAN A MORTAL (Mosiah 2:10)
I must be willing to be publicly honest about my weaknesses and mistakes
when I am moved upon by the Spirit to do so.
STEP 6: LET THIS DESIRE WORK IN YOU (Alma 32:27)
Only a mighty change in my heart, a complete change of disposition, of
desire, will ensure any genuine change in my behavior.
STEP 7: AND NEVER, UNTIL I DID CRY OUT (Alma 38:8)
The mighty change of heart is a gift from God that I must desire and ask for.
STEP 8: THEY BURIED [THEIR] WEAPONS OF WAR, FOR PEACE (Alma 24:19)
The mighty change of heart brings me to a place of willingness to make
amends for all past wrongs, to seek a spirit of peace and oneness with
everyone, including those I have hurt or been hurt by.
STEP 9: BLESSED ARE ALL THE PEACEMAKERS (3 Nephi 12:9)
The establishment of Zion begins with a mighty change in my own heart,
and then extends to others as I act to amend all past wrongs.
STEP 10: RETAIN A REMISSION OF YOUR SINS (Mosiah 4:12)
The mighty change of heart does not bring me to a state of perfection but
rather to a state of continual repentance and abhorrence of sin.
STEP 11: COUNSEL WITH THE LORD IN ALL THY DOINGS (Alma 37:37)
The mighty change of heart brings me an awareness of Christ’s living
presence in my life through the gift of the Holy Ghost as I learn to receive
and believe the voice of the Lord in my own mind.
STEP 12: I [WAS] DESIROUS THAT MY FAMILY SHOULD PARTAKE (1 Nephi 8:12)
The mighty change of heart causes me to feel an irresistible desire to share
with others the truly good news of Christ’s reality and availability.
