It can be truly devastating to learn that your loved one is involved in an addictive behavior, and may even be addicted. You don't know where to turn, or to whom you can talk. We hope to ease some of that loneliness and feeling of helplessness.
First of all, we want you to know that we understand. We have our own situations with addicted family members and friends. We know the heartache of wanting to help, but not knowing of anything we could do to help. Or if our efforts might actually make things worse.
The next thing we want you to know is that is isn't your fault. Often we blame ourselves for not being good enough, or helpful enough, or spiritual enough to know this problem existed, or to have maybe prevented it. These feelings are real, and painful, but they are not based in fact. They are Satan's attack on you, just as he is attacking your loved one through the addiction.
The most imporant thing we want to share with you is that there is hope and help both for your husband and for you. The source of that help is the Lord, Jesus Christ. Our mission at Windhaven is to help people to find that help for themselves, as we have done. We invite you to continue to read on this website and see what else is here.
